Introduction to Numbers
Numbers have always been a challenge for my students. No matter how advanced they are in French, numbers always seem to escape them. This is why I created these exercises. I strongly recommend that you do ALL the exercises, starting with the digits 0-9 since their pronunciation is the key to understanding numbers, and therefore time and prices.
You will need Apple's QuickTime Player for the audio.
Here is how it works ; these exercises are designed to better
your understanding and pronunciation of numbers, not the spelling.
There are 2 types of recordings ;
- Repeat. Just repeat after me, I will leave enough
space so that you can do so while playing the recording. This
is designed to match exactly what I wrote in my explanations.
You can read the list of numbers while you are doing it, or
just repeat, as you please.
- Exercises 1,2,3. For each series of numbers, I will
record a random list at 3 different speeds, exercise 3 being
the fastest. You should write down the numbers, in digits,
not in letter (you won't have enough time for that) and any
additionnal info like francs, heures, euros or minutes.
When you do the exercises, you don't read the answers below!
But you can always listen and read as an additionnal association
exercise.
As always, repetition is the key. Do these exercises over
and over, then when you feel you have it, download this random
number generator RNG4
and create your own exercises. Note that this program is
for Mac only, if you know of a PC program that creates random
numbers, I'll be glad to add a link to it here.
As always, I love feedback, so let me know if that was helpful
