70-99 LES NOMBRES ETRANGES
THE WEIRD ONES
Repeat
OK, I must admit, those are weird bravo to our northern francophones for using the words Septante, Octante and Nonante. But if you go to France, well, there is no way around it. You have to know and understand them. So here we go.
| SOIXANTE-DIX soixante et onze soixante-douze soixante-treize soixante-quatorze soixante-quinze soixante-seize soixante-dix-sept soixante-dix-huit soixante-dix-neuf |
QUATRE-VINGT-DIX |
| QUATRE-VINGTS quatre-vingt-un quatre-vingt-deux quatre-vingt-trois quatre-vingt-quatre quatre-vingt-cinq quatre-vingt-six quatre-vingt-sept quatre-vingt-huit quatre-vingt-neuf |
Remarks :
- note that unlike vingt et un, quatre-vingt-un and the following
numbers lose their T sound.
- Quatre-vingts takes an S in writing when by itself or followed
by a noun, but loses it when followed by another number.
- et is used in the numbers 21, 31, 41, 51, 61 and 71 but not in
81 and 91. There is no hyphen when et is used.
